Why Every iPhone Photographer Needs the Adonit Dash 4 Pen Input

Today, I have a game-changer gadget to introduce that will immensely enhance your photo editing skills right from your iPhone - presenting the Adonit Dash 4 Pen.

Why Choose a Stylus for iPhone Photo Editing?

With the ever-evolving iPhone cameras empowering us to take professional-grade photos, editing these visuals to perfection is the next big step. While iPhones have always delivered a seamless experience, the lack of stylus support had been a significant gap - until now.

Many of us have found editing photos with our fingers quite limiting, and frankly, a bit irritating. The fine precision and control a stylus offers make photo editing much easier and more enjoyable.

And that’s where the Adonit Dash 4 pen steps in to bridge this gap, turning your iPhone into a powerhouse for editing photos, akin to a Samsung Galaxy S22 or even a high-end iPad.

Introducing the Adonit Dash 4 Pen: A Photographer's Delight

I've recently gotten my hands on this little marvel and I must say, it’s every hobbyist photographer's dream come true. The Adonit Dash 4 pen has made editing pictures on my iPhone not only simpler but also quite accurate, especially when compared to using my fingers.

What’s exciting about this pen is that it can work with a plethora of devices, including iPads and Android devices. So if you’re someone who doesn’t want to carry multiple devices or has lost your Apple Pencil, this pen acts as a universal solution, offering flexibility and convenience on the go.

Now, let’s dive a bit deeper into the features and why this could be your next favorite gadget.

Key Features and Benefits

  1. Versatile Compatibility: Whether you own an iPhone 14 Pro like mine or any other version, this pen effortlessly integrates, allowing for fine photo edits with precision.

  2. Ease of Use: The Adonit Dash 4 comes with two modes – green and blue, catering to both non-M1 and M1 devices respectively, offering wider compatibility options.

  3. Swift Navigation: Apart from editing, this stylus also facilitates smooth navigation through your phone, enhancing the overall user experience.

  4. Portable Charging: The pen houses a magnetized charging piece that can easily attach to USB sockets, making the charging process quite straightforward.

A Few Drawbacks to Note

Despite its impressive features, the pen comes with a couple of shortcomings:

  • The hard tip of the pen tends to make noise on the glass surface.

  • It comes with a proprietary charger, meaning losing it necessitates purchasing a new one.

Concluding Thoughts

In a nutshell, the Adonit Dash 4 pen has significantly upped my iPhone photo editing game. It might not replace the feel of an S Pen or offer features like tilt sensitivity, but for hobbyist photographers looking to make quick, precise edits on their iPhones, it's nothing short of a boon.

I genuinely recommend giving it a try if, like me, you prefer editing with a stylus rather than your finger. Check out the product here (link to Amazon) and don't forget to catch all these features in action in the accompanying video!

If you’ve found this review helpful, don’t forget to give a thumbs up and subscribe for more content like this. Until next time, happy editing!

Is The Samsung Galaxy S8 Worth It In 2023 For Photographers?

My Personal Journey: Why the Samsung Galaxy S Tab 8 is the Ultimate Tool for Hobbyist Photographers on the Move.

Gone are the days when brilliant photography was limited to bulky equipment and professionals. As a passionate hobbyist photographer, I was on the hunt for something portable yet powerful. That’s when I stumbled upon the Samsung Galaxy S Tab 8 – my trusted companion on my recent adventures in London and France.

Expandable Storage: A Lifesaver when traveling.

I can't stress enough about the importance of storage, especially while traveling. I was in London, then France, for two weeks, capturing every moment without worrying about the dreaded "Storage Full" pop-up.

With the Galaxy Tab S8’s expandable storage, I added a 256gb memory card, keeping my internal storage free. This not only ensured the smooth running of the Tab S8 but also meant I could store hundreds of high-res images and many 4K videos without a hitch.

DeX Mode: Turning Cafés into Editing Studios

DeX mode was a game changer for me during my travels. After a day of sightseeing, I'd pop into a café, switch to DeX mode, and it was as if I had a powerful computer right in front of me.

One of my go-to apps, Lightroom, runs flawlessly on the Tab S8, whether in tablet mode or DeX mode. Editing photos, playing with colors, and enhancing details became a breeze, turning my captured moments into polished memories.

Unbeatable Value: Quality on a Budget

Being a hobbyist photographer means balancing passion with budget. While traveling, every penny counts. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, with its reasonable price point, was the best decision I made before my trip. Not only was it less heavy on the wallet compared to an iPad Pro, but the added value of expandable storage ensured that I never had to worry about performance hitches or running out of space.

For those like me, hobbyist photographers craving the perfect blend of mobility, performance, and value, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 stands tall. It's more than just a tablet; it's a window to creativity, adventure, and endless possibilities. After my two weeks in London and France, I can confidently say it's the best travel companion a photographer can ask for.

Get This Instead Of The Fujifilm X100 | Fujifilm XF10 Review

In this video, I review the FujiFilm XF 10 camera and why it's as a great alternative to the FujiFilm X100 line. I share how the camera's compact size and unintrusiveness are perfect for an everyday carry camera. I love Fuji's film recipes feature that can be used to produce great pictures in straight JPEGs. I believe that the camera's image quality is excellent and that the full 24-megapixel APS sensor allows for great-quality images that can be printed big and cropped down. Plus so much more.

Fujifilm XF10

Buy on Amazon

Today, I wanted to talk about the Fujifilm XF10 and why I think it's a great alternative to the Fujifilm X100 line. I had been wanting to do this review for a while, but I decided to hold off until I could use it again. I hadn't used it in a while, since I got the Ricoh GR iiix and I really wanted to form an opinion.

To be honest, I was getting ready to pick up a regular Ricoh GR iii, but this little camera changed my mind. I've canceled any plans of getting a new camera because of how fun this camera is. It has an APSC sensor inside this tiny body, which is just like the Ricoh line. It fits in any pocket and is very unintrusive, making it a great everyday carry camera.

One of my favorite features of this camera are the many Fujifilm recipes. There are websites with other recipes you can create to dial in the camera and get some really cool pictures. I shoot this camera in JPEG and can manipulate them a little bit. The image quality of this camera is second to none.

Yes, there are some things I wish it had, but this is a great alternative to the Fujifilm X100, which is hard to get or expensive. This camera has a full 24 megapixel APS sensor, so you can print big, crop, and do a lot of work with a 24 megapixel image. If you shoot raw, you can really get some detail out of this little camera.

The size is really cool, and I like the ring you can move around, the dials and buttons up top, and the joystick. You can set up the camera to take pictures when you press the screen, or do touch to focus. There are so many features and ways to set up the camera to make it your own.

ULANZI Versatile Camera Shoulder Bag Review: The Best EDC Drone Bag

In this video, I'm reviewing the ULANZI Versatile Camera Shoulder Bag. It's a six-liter bag and has a rubber outer coating, three compartments, and two handles. It's perfect for the drone because it's small and compact. I can fit my extra phone, extra battery, cable, small rig multi-tool, AirPod Pros, DJ Mini, controller, cable, and two cameras. It also has two extra pockets and a webbing pouch for SD cards. The strap is nylon with metal adjusters. It's a great bag, but it doesn't have a pocket for a mini tripod or a water bottle. Ricoh GRiiix First Impressions

The Ricoh GR iiix is one of the best pocketable cameras I've ever used. This video is my first impression of the camera. Having used it for a little bit I am in love with it.

Below are a few sample pictures I’ve captured so far.

When I was doing research on the Ricoh GR iiix all I was seeing is how great of a street photography camera it was. But I’ve used it mainly to document my life and to have a camera that can literally fit in my pocket. With a 24mp APSC sensor I don’t feel that I am compromising image quality in any way.

A good to ask is why buy a point-and-shoot camera in 2022? I plan to answer that in more detail in a future blog post. But the short answer is that I see the world differently when I have a camera. Another nice feature of the Ricoh GR iiix is that you can do close focus photography. It’s not like using the Sony 90mm F2.8 macro lens but it's pretty impressive.

So far I really like the Ricoh GR iiix. It’s much more than a street photography camera. For someone like me it can easily fit in my everyday life.

I have always been impressed with Fuji’s film simulation.

Literally having an APSC sensor in my pocket has changed they way I approach photography. I am constantly seeing images that I want to capture. I am getting into street photography more. Over all I am having fun taking pictures again.

Sony 90mm F2.8 Unboxing And First Impressions

Sony 90mm F2.8

The Sony 90mm F2.8 is a premium macro lens for Sony full frame cameras. Below are unboxing pictures. All images have been tweaked moderately in Lightroom. And taken with the Tamron 28-200 on the Sony A6100.

Sony 90mm F2.8

$1098.00

The build quality is amazing. The lens is all metal and heavy. It is a Sony G Lens one step below the GM model.

The only knock I have so far is the lens is not wether sealed. Since moving to Seattle I’ve become very sensitive to having my camera gear in the rain.

All these images have been slightly tweaked in Lightroom.

Book Review: Visual Poetry: A Creative Guide for Making Engaging Digital Photographs

I have been into photography for over 20 years. So I know what motivates me and the places I struggle. But every once and awhile you hit a snag and need a kick in the butt. That is what this book will do for you. Once you get to the meat of the book, it is inspiring, informative and a whole lot of fun. Chris Orwig has set this up in a workshop mode, so you have the option of taking his assignments. You don't have to do them but it's a great way to practice what you're learning.

This a very refreshing change from so many of the technique obsessed photography books. This is a book which inspires you to go take pictures - and think about what and why you are doing. Chris has a more philosophical approach to photography. He mixes the technical with the emotional. I like how Orwig chose to instruct professional and aspiring photographers to look at themselves at search why they like to take pictures and to apply their emotion to photography rather than techniques.

Chris demonstrates how the creative process for a photographer is similar to that of the creative process used by writers. Chris offers inspiration, advise, techniques, and bits of wisdom from the many quotes from famous writers and photographer that can be found scatter throughout the book.

If you LOVE photography, read it. If photography is a chore and you need a no frills manual (use this aperture, this lens, that speed, frame with rule of thirds, etc) look else where. If you are comfortable with camera setting and compositional rules but something is missing, read this book. This is a great guide for armature semi-pro to develop passion in their career.

Pixelmator Pro sale and sneak peek at ML Crop

img_hero.jpeg

Starting today, Pixelmator Pro is going on sale and is now available with a gigantic, no – gargantuan! – discount of 50%. Not only that, we’ve also got a second sneak peek for you at the upcoming Pixelmator Pro 2.1 update, showcasing the super fun new ML Crop feature.

I like supporting indie developers and the Pixelmator apps have always gotten my money. Their apps are super powerful without all the baggage that Photoshop has had. I’ve used Pixelmator on the iPad for a few years now and still recommend it to people just getting started in photography.

The same can be said for the desktop app. I haven’t used it in years but for $19.99 it’s a no brainer. There have been many times I need to do a quick edit to a picture but don’t want to open photoshop and I think Pixelmator will be the solution for me.

You can read more on the Pixelmator blog post.

Sony A6100 Long Term Review | APSC Is Changing My World

The Sony A6100 has been one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. For they type of photography and video work I do the A6100 has been more than enough. Paired with the right lens . I believe anyone who watches my videos will find any APSC camera will be more than enough for photography.

Tamron 28 200mm | Long Term Review

I’ve been using the Tamron 28-200mm lens for eight months. Overall it’s a great all around lens. If you want to travel with one camera and lens I will highly recommend this lens.

Get it here on Amazon.

Being a variable aperture lens I suggest keeping the aperture at f5.6 so you won’t worry about your ISO won’t jump around. When I do use the lens at f2.8 I lock the lens so it won’t accidentally zoom out.

Tamron is known for having close focusing lens. That’s nice because I can get macro “like” shots without having to carry around a macro lens. It’s not a perfect solution but if you’re on a budget it works.

Overall I’m very happy with the Tamron 28-200mm and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good all in one lens.

Sony A7ii One Year Later | Is it still worth buying in 2021?

I’ve now spent one year with the Sony A7ii. It’s been the best camera I’ve ever used. The design of the Sony A7ii is probably its strongest attribute and I’m still astonished by the level of craftsmanship present here. It’s one of those products you can’t help but fondle while working at your desk. In terms of hardware, I don’t have much to complain about. Like many things in life, I prefer to reduce the amount of unnecessary complexity. I always have the camera on auto ISO, white balance and focus so when I’m actually shooting.
