My favorite features of iPadOS 13
The iPad Pro was a little ahead of its time when it was released, lacking the software support to make it a viable laptop replacement. But now, with iPadOS, there is a massive load of features like mouse support and external storage support that help make it an undeniably good computer. Field Trip: Colorado Western Slope Road Trip
This past June My wife and I took a mini road trip to Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. We did all in three days.
Our first stop was Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park. When you first get there you see how deep the Canyon is, I was pleasantly surprised. The roads curve back and forth. There are some spots that the curve comes up on you pretty quick. If you are into panoramic pictures this is the place for it. At each stop it felt as if I was doing a pano. The views are well worth the winding roads and small birds zipping past your head in some places.
When we first entered Mesa Verde National Park it overwhelming to see all the dead burnt trees. From the top of the first couple stops we could see a fire they were monitoring. The dead trees were from a fire in 2002.
The cliff dwelling are something everyone should get to see at least once. It is amazing to see what people did without machines or computers. There are straight lines and 90 degree angles. I was blown away by the architecture. The way they got in and out of the dwellings where by rock climbing.
Canyonlands National Park gets over looked by its neighbor Arches. But it is amazing to see all the canyons that were created over millions of years by water. The landscape looks like being on a movie set about Mars.
Lastly we visited Arches National Park. Again seeing these structures carved from rain and wind over thousands of years was amazing. The crazy part is they are still forming and at some point they will fall down. Knowing that they aren’t permanent makes me really cherish seeing them.
Overall this was a great little get away with my wife. Our little focus got us to every location without any issue. I would highly recommend visiting one or all of these national parks.
Field Trip: Senegal
I've been on vacation in Senegal, one of my favorite places in the world. I got back from the trip a few weeks ago with a ton of photos and decided to share them rather then keeping them in my Lightroom library. We also went to The Museum Of Black Civilization, which you can see here.

Field Trip: The Museum Of Black Civilization - Dakar Senegal
The Museum of Black Civilizations, known in French as the Musée des Civilisations noires (MCN), is a 150,000-square-foot, circular structure, modeled after the traditional houses of Senegal’s Casamance region. The opening of the museum is particularly timely given increased discussions about the repatriation of African artifacts looted during colonial times which are currently scattered across museums and private collections in Europe.
We got there the day it opened to the public.
The underlying idea for the museum is to document and celebrate artifacts from global black civilizations. As such, the museum’s catalog is unlikely to be exclusively African. Indeed, the first temporary exhibitions at the museum will feature artworks from Cuba and Haiti.

Yi Lite Cinematic 4 Tips
The Yi Lite is a little $60 action camera goes with me everywhere. With these 4 tips you get cinematic shots with the Yi Lite.
1. Use a gimbal or small tripod.
2. Shoot in 2K video mode. You can still use EIS while getting great image quality.
3. Walk as stable as you can. Even though the Yi Lite has electronic image stabilization (EIS), you still need to film in a smooth movement. That means your arm, which is holding the camera, has to be as stable as possible and I show you how you exactly how to achieve that.
4. Use in camera transitions and place the camera in interesting places.

Gear Review: YI Lite Action Camera
Small action cameras have been around for a LONG time. But I never had a real use for them in my workflow. I would watch videos that people created with them and appreciate how amazing they are. But I’m not doing any surfing, extreme hiking, rock climbing, or other adventure sport. Once in a while I would think it would be cool to have one when we go snow tubing or something, but those times are rare. The other reason I’ve waited is the price of a good action camera has always been a bit more than I wanted to spend on something like this.
However in the last couple of years I’ve been using my phones for more and more photography and video related project. As Chase Jarvis once said “The best camera is the one you have with you.” While these phones are getting better and in some cases doing things a traditional camera can’t. I am always afraid of breaking them or leaving it behind somewhere.
Shoes: Converse Men's Fastbreak 83 Mid
Low top shoes never appealed to me. But the other day I decided to try on a pair of Converse Men's Fastbreak 83 Mid. The pair I picked up is made of canvas and leather accents. They come in several different colors. I really like the minimal design of Converse shoes. My foot doesn’t feel like it’s in a cast.
The best thing I got in 2018...Zhiyun Smooth-Q 3 | $90

Photography Apps On Chrome OS
In this video I see how well Android photography apps run on Chrome OS.
Field Trip: Arches National Park
Arches National Park is an amazing park. It’s very cool to see these stone structures that were built over hundreds of years from wind and water. We went in the afternoon to avoid the massive lines that can build up during the day. The one problem they have is the lack of parking. Due to our limited time we decided to skip Delicate Arch, probably the most famous one. To see these stone structures made from nature was awesome. The crazy part is at some point they will deteriorate to a point where they will collapse.
There other amazing non arch structures to stop at.
We actually decided to hike the Skyline trail. At the end there was a 45 degree trail up a rock face we decided to try. Once we got to the top it was breathtaking. I would highly recommend that hike if your able to make it.
